                                                                                                Purebred Puppies

Our Purebred puppies are healthy and intelligent. We do not Line or In-breed any of our dogs,

as this produces weak puppies that are likely to have continuous health problems and short life

spans. Our purebreds are registered AKC, CKC or both.

                                          Care Tips for your Chihuahua

Use a body harness instead of a collar to protect your dog's neck on walks. This will also help

prevent collapsed trachea and soft palate.

Feed your Chihuahua dog food in which the first ingredient is meat. Crude protein should be no

less than 30 percent, and crude fat no less than 20 percent. Fiber content should be 4 percent or

less. Iams and Eukanuba are recommended brands.

Train your Chihuahua with a gentle hand, and socialize them at an early age with adults as well

as humans and other dogs. Chihuahuas are more quickly to learn with patience and understanding,

reinforcement of good behavior, rather than harsh words or treatment.

Dress your Chihuahua in a sweater if in temperatures below 40 degrees F. Chihuahuas are very

sensitive to cold temperatures.

Be prepared to enjoy a full 11 to 18 years with your Chihuahua, as this is the breed's average life

expectancy.

Chihuahuas often like to snuggle under pillows and blankets.

A number of Chihuahua owners find that their dogs are gagging or coughing. This often turns

out to be "reverse sneezing," a phenomenon related to problems with the soft palate or a collapsed

trachea. Take your Chihuahua to a vet right away if these symptoms develop.

One of the Chihuahuas favorite things in life is sunbathing. Make sure your Chihuahua's quarters

have a patch of sunlight to soak up during the day. Always provide shelter from too much sun. It is

interesting to note that Chihuahuas with pink noses can be sunburned and even develop cancer.

Because Chihuahuas can sometimes not know when they've had too much sun, they can become

dehydrated. Make sure your Chihuahua always has sufficient water.

If you use Frontline or Advantage as a flea preventative, you can save money by buying the package

labeled for the largest breeds. On small dogs like Chihuahuas, you can divide the medication into

several doses. The amount to use per dose is 1/10 cc per pound. Use a 1cc syringe - the volume of

medication drawn up is clearly marked on the barrel. If you don't use the entire contents of the

original tube, it can be stored in the syringe with the cap on.
